Sound needs air molecules. In the vacuum of space, two ships could explode side by side in complete silence.
Explosions, laser sounds, and engine roars in space movies are pure fiction. Real space is absolute silence.
Sound waves travel through vibration - they need air, water, or a solid medium. In the vacuum of space, there are no molecules to carry sound.
If two spaceships exploded side by side, an astronaut in one would hear nothing. Only radio waves (electromagnetic) can travel in space - not sound.
